Frosted Finishes Framed Art. Which is your favorite, red or blue?

Aren't these beautiful? The blue one was inspired and CASE'd from Ronda Wade, a fellow Stampin' Up demo. I used most of her ideas for the blue version but changed some of them to suit my taste and also to my supplies on hand. The second version, while also basically a CASE from Ronda, was created by my friend and fellow Stampin' Up demo, Darla Eigenschink. She took a different take on Ronda's version and created a gorgeous compliment to the blue one, only in red.  As I did with Ronda's version, I also changed Darla's just a little bit. I love the two ornaments hanging down with the Silver 1/8" ribbon on the red version, available from my online store at www.polkadotstamper.stampinup.net. Also available are those beautiful Frosted Finishes Embellishments that the project title comes from.

I am offering both of these versions, at the same class, for $30 each. The class will be held at my home, either Tuesday, December 10th at 6:00pm or Saturday, December 14th at 10:00am. Please RSVP for either of these classes by December 8th. I have 6 spots open. Hurry, you don't want to miss out!!

Birthday Cards #3, #4 and #5

You know how life just comes screaming through your day? Pushing all hope for creativity, or a nap for that matter, completely out of the way? That's exactly what happened to my week. But, I still have cards to share, one for each day I missed. Here we go:

Birthday Card #3
I really like the clean, crisp look of this card. I actually created this card on Wednesday morning and then had no time to post it. I started with Whisper White cardstock as the base and then layered it with another piece of the white, embossing it with our new Chevron embossing folder. This card is a little bittersweet, though. Some of the items I used are on the retired list, and after May 31st, will no longer be available. Here is the list of retired items:
-Melon Mambo 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon
        -Brights Designer Buttons
        -Easy Events stamp set
-Certainly Celery marker (this whole color line has been retired; cardstock, ink, marker, reinker)
-Bashful Blue (this whole color line has been retired; cardstock, ink, marker, reinker)
-Pretty In Pink (this whole color line has been retired; cardstock, ink, marker, reinker)
Don't worry, there are still a lot of great colors in the new catalog to choose from!
I also used on this card:
        -Apothecary Accents Framelits
        -Melon Mambo cardstock
        -Melon Mambo marker
        -Basic Rhinestones
-Dazzling Diamonds glitter (did you notice that the icing on the cupcake and the trim around the cake plate were dazzling with glitter?! I can't get enough of the glitter!!!!)

Birthday Card #4

I love this card!! I very gently CASE'd it from Mary Fish, another demonstrator. I started out with a piece of Pool Party cardstock, cut 8 1/2"x8 1/2" and scored at 4 1/4". There is a layer of Whisper White, 4"x8 1/4". On top of the white cardstock, I layered a piece of DSP from the Storytime pack. The colors are Pool Party and Riding Hood Red. Our Riding Hood Red is retiring, as well as the Storytime DSP, the Brights Designer Buttons, and the Pool Party 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon that I put over the DSP. I mounted some very cute stamped images, with Dimensionals, from the "Ciao, Baby!" stamp set, available until May 31st, in our spring catalog. I also used the "A Round Array" stamp set. It's only available as a bundle, paired with a matching 7/8" scalloped circle punch, used to punch all four little circles. After May 30th, both items will be available individually in our new 2013-2014 Stampin' Up catalog. The Happy Birthday is from the "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set, available in our current catalog and carried over to the new one.

Birthday Card #5

How you can you not help but love this card? It's so cheery, dressed in all it's Daffodil Delight! I CASE'd this card on Pinterest from another demonstrator, Elisha Smith. I changed a few things, but it's mostly just like her card.

I started with a Basic Black cardstock base. (when you use a dark color for your card base, just use a lighter, coordinating color of cardstock inside to stamp or write on. Or, you can just use a piece of copy paper. It's much lighter if you're sending your card through the mail.)

The Daffodil Delight polka dot paper is from the DSP pack, Polka Dot Parade. I'm happy to say that this paper has been carried over from our current catalog to our new 2013-2014 catalog. It's so versatile! On the Whisper White, I stamped flowers from the "Secret Garden" stamp set, in StazOn black ink. I used the StazOn so that when I stamped the solid flowers, in Daffodil Delight, I wouldn't risk having the black bleed into the yellow. I used the Basic Black marker to color in the centers of the yellow flowers.

I wrapped a piece of 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon around the Polka Dot Parade DSP. To finish off the card, I used two framelits from the "Hearts A Flutter" framelits set. One in black and the other in Daffodil Delight. The saying is from the "Petite Pairs" stamp set and topped off with a touch of sparkle, using a Basic Rhinestone.

I really wanted to fulfill my goal of a birthday card per day this week, but I'm just as happy to have completed this post, even as long as it is. I hope I've sparked a little creativity, not only for myself, but also for you.

Happy Stamping!

Birthday Card #2

I love birthday card #2! I love the colors, I love the Designer Series Paper that I used as the background, and ooohh, the ribbon!!
I started with a base card of Midnight Muse and layered it with Patio Party DSP. I used three of the 2012-2014 In Color ribbons - Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, and Raspberry Ripple. Using the Window Frames Collection Framelits, I cut out one piece in Midnight Muse and used patterns from the Patio Party DSP to cut out the other two. I stamped the cake and banner with Midnight Muse and Summer Starfruit, using the "Make a Cake" stamp set. It doesn't show in the photo very well but I dazzled it up using our Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I love glitter!!! The "admit one" is from "That's the Ticket" and punched out with the "Ticket Duo Builder" punch. The "happy birthday is from "Itty Bitty Banners" and is cut with the Bitty Banner framelits.

I just tucked the ticket in with a little bit of adhesive. The happy birthday banner has been curled just a bit with my bone folder and is held in place with a glue dot.

Happy Stamping!

Birthday Week

It's birthday week at our house, and not just any birthday, either. It's my husband's birthday this Friday, the 17th. He will be the big 5-0! What a milestone! Half a century, 600 months, 18,262 days, 26,297,438.3 minutes. WOW!!! That's a lot of minutes! My goal is to share a birthday card everyday this week, Monday through Friday. Here is my first one:
I made this card for a shoebox swap that I'm doing with my Stampin' Up team. Every other month my manager has us do these swaps as a way to get great ideas from each other. Our goal was to create a birthday card using any of the new colors from our new catalog coming out June 1st. I chose to use Island Indigo and Pear Pizzazz. I love how pretty this card turned out. The colors are so fun and summery, perfect for a summer birthday!

Cardstock: Island Indigo, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White
Ink: Pear Pizzazz and Tangerine Tango
Embossing folders: Perfect Polka Dots and Argyle
Basic Rhinestones, Dimensionals and Island Indigo Baker's Twine

HAPPY SPRING!!

It's really beginning to look like spring in my little corner of the world. The daffodils are blooming, hyacinths are starting their journey to full bloom and I believe a few tulips are beginning to appear. While I haven't blogged in awhile, I've continued to scrapbook and make cards and I thought I'd share a really cute spring banner that I made this past weekend. I CASE'd it from another demo, Chiaki Haverstick. I pretty much copied everything she did, right down to the DSP and cardstock colors. It's inspired me to want to make another banner for one of my favorite holidays, 4th of July. I want to wait and make it once the new Stampin' Up catalog has come out. There might be some fun papers to use to create my new banner. And don't forget the ribbon! Stampin' Up has so many fun and pretty ribbons for all your crafting needs.

If you'd like to create this cute spring banner for your home or as a gift for someone, I'll be having a class this Saturday, April 13th. The cost is $15 and all supplies are included. Please RSVP to let me know you'll be joining us. There aren't many spots left so let me know as soon as you can.

Happy stamping!
